The Hawaii Kai Marina's 8th annual "Festival of Lights" Christmas Boat Parade was held on Saturday, December 11th, 2004 with 35 creative and festive entrants, including The Shack Hawaii Kai's very own SHACK ATTACK.
The parade started at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center, makings its way toward Duck Island and finishing at Mariner's Cove.
There was a host of celebrity judges including KITV newscasters Pamela Young and Gary Sprinkle, KHNL newscaster Howard Dashevsky, City Councilmember Charles Djou, Senator Bob Hogue and Katie O'Neil, managing partner of the Outback Restaurant.
Hawaii Kai Merchants such as The Shack generously donated prizes and gift certificates, including $1000 grand prizes for the winners in 3 boat categories.
Sponsors of the event included Jaap Snyderhoud and Beverly Liddle of the Hawaii Kai Marina Community Association. Co-sponsors included the Hawaii Kai Towne Center, Hawaii Kai Shopping Center and Koko Marina Center.
The event was a "sparkling" success, with lots of folks enjoying the boat parade right from their dinner table on The Shack's marina waterfront.
We're looking forward to another great holiday season again in 2005!
